10 Of Our Favourite Long Street Hang Out Spots

8th October 10 Of Our Favourite Long Street Hang Out Spots

Posted at 11:27:22 AM in

Daddy Long Legs boasts 5 fully equipped self-catering apartments on Long Street, in the heart of Cape Town’s creative city centre.

Conveniently located along the Mother City’s iconic and vibrant Long Street, these 1- and 2-bedroom self-catering accommodation options provide visitors (whether locals or out-of-towners) with a perfect spot to call home while adventuring around the always fun, always beautiful, always charming Cape Town.

Because of the apartment complex’s close proximity to Cape Town city centre’s best restaurants, bars and clubs, the apartments also make for a perfect overnight for bachelor and bachelorette parties – there’ll be no driving after a night of partying!

Here are 10 of our favourite spots to hang out along Long Street – all of which are within only a couple of minutes’ walking distance from the apartments:

Cuban food and beer

Café Mojito: This Cuban-inspired eatery serves up delicious fresh island cuisine and delightful cocktails and when the vibe really gets going, the action often spills out on to the streets.
Located only a couple of steps out of your Daddy Long Legs apartment, there’s hardly a more convenient watering hole.

Café Royale: This famous Long Street burger restaurant is a beloved local treasure and has long been one of Cape Town’s favourite destinations for handcrafted burgers and delectable milkshakes. They also have an extensive range of vegan and vegetarian options.

Waiting Room: Situated directly on top of Café Royal , Waiting Room is a cosy entertainment space where some seriously good nights are had. Dancefloors, grand rooftop terrace as well as regular live acts are major highlights.

Marvel: If you’re looking for that all-night, non-stop dance vibe, then this dance club is one of your best bets. Here you can party through the early hours of the morning alongside the funkiest beats and coolest peeps.

Jo’burg and Pretoria: No, you’re not in Gauteng. These are just two of Long Street’s longest-standing and most popular bars.  The vibe at both spots is as electric as the hustle and bustle of the urban namesakes.

Dubliner: Not just another ol’ Irish pub, the Dubliner offers all the giddy laughter of a night spent out on the Emerald Isle, just with all the local-is-lekker South African gees. And just a few metres from the apartments, a better beer-grabbing, game-watching spot would be hard to find.

Long Street Café: Another super close and vibey spot, Long Street Café serves a delicious menu both food and drinks, inside and out (along sidewalk tables). Best of all the café’s totally laid-back and chilled atmosphere means this is a spot anyone and everyone would feel very comfortable in.

Traditional South African food

Pitzos: Open daily for lunch and dinner, this relatively new addition to the Long Street thoroughfare specialises in traditional African and South African fare. For those wanting to enjoy an undeniably authentic Mzansi dining experience, this is for you!

Lola’s: Inviting and down-to-earth sidewalk cafe that's earned a spot as one of Cape Town's little gems by dishing up tasty, fresh and locally-sourced eats, with some great vegetarian options, craft beer and coffee. This is a really good breakfasting spot too!

Beerhouse: 25 beers on tap and 99 bottles! Beer-lovers: need we say more?
