Since inception, Daddy Long Legs Art Hotel has been all about celebrating Cape Town’s creative spirit. We’ve always been passionate about art and, in particular, the phenomenally talented art and artists that coming out of our beautiful Mother City. That’s why each of our hotel rooms has been uniquely themed and designed by a different local artist or designer.

This past year we had the real privilege of inviting artists to create a few new murals in the hotel. We simply couldn’t be happier with the results and wanted to share all of these amazing artworks with you.

The first mural we had commissioned in 2019 was the courtyard’s vibrant and colourful under- and overwater scene created by local graffiti artist Confrom. The marine mural – complete with friendly fishies and scuba-diving chameleon – has really livened up the courtyard space, providing a welcoming and fun inner-city sanctuary to enjoy a little respite from the bustling streets outside the hotel.

The second mural that was added to hotel was this line-up of quintessentially Capetonian characters to the hotel’s You Are Here room.

This piece was once again conceptualised and crafted by Conform, whose signature sense of humour can be seen throughout (hello African penguin! We love you!)

And lastly, the final mural artwork that was added to the Far From Home room is this wanderlust-inducing landscape masterpiece painted by talented artist Tatiana Hurn.

Hurn envisioned a wanderlust-inducing scene depicting a vast Karoo landscape, featuring vibrant aloes, a breathtaking valley vista and a winding gravel road that invites one and all to embark on a journey of discovery and delight.

🎊 WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT 🎊

Earlier this year we collaborated with talented local street artist #Conform to add a new mural artwork to the hotel’s You Are Here room. The accomplished street artist added his signature touch to the hotel by creating a charming collection of Capetonian characters to adorn the wall of the hotel room.

To celebrate this quintessentially Capetonian art addition, we decided to run a competition in which the winner would win a weekend stay for 2 at the hotel. We appreciated all the entries we received and are please to announce our ultimate winner.

Daddy Long Legs loves local art and artists. That’s why we partnered with some of the best local creative talents to imbue our hotel with its distinctive flair.

At inception each artist and designer was given a hotel room to play with, coneptualise a unique theme and then design the interior of that particular room accordingly.

_{From the local-is-lekker afrojazz-centric Freshlyground room to the crimson case of the Emergency Room our hotel rooms are quirky and offbeat and offer a little something different from the staid old hotel room offering.}

_{To continue our love affair with local artists, we also recently asked Conform, a talented and prominent Cape Town mural and graffiti artist, to create a fresh new mural artwork at the hotel; this time in our courtyard.}

_{The brief was simple: brighten the space, with a scene that’s alive with energy while still retaining a characteristics Daddy Long Legs sense of humour. And we absolutely LOVE what he did with the space.}

_{His under- and overwater scene complete with scuba diving chameleon and friendly fishy faces has been a real hit and added a bright and uplifting feel to the previously and admittedly somewhat bland courtyard area.
